A number of the pictures in Marie Boehmer’s collection were removed from an album at some point, and have black construction paper adhering to the backs. In this case the date of the image is exposed, but there is additional writing that we won’t be able to read until we can figure out a safe way to loosen the glue. According to the text the photograph was taken on October 30, 1890, a month or so after Alois’ 63rd birthday, and five and a half months before his death on April 12 of 1891, of bronchitis.
