A holiday gathering perhaps. The text on the back suggests this may have been taken in Deerfield, Michigan in 1916. Seated in front are the children, left to right: Margaret (unknown), Betty Betz, Anna Marie Betz, Francis Gerard Betz.
Seated in chairs are an unknown elderly man, and someone identified as possibly being “Grandma Schaefer.” Possibly Kate Schaefer’s mother-in-law.
Standing behind, left to right: an unidentified woman, Edward M. Betz, another unidentified woman, Lena M. Betz, and a grizzly old gentleman identified as perhaps the child Margaret’s stepfather. He appears to have tossed his hat on the ground at his feet.
