Shirley sauce and cup cakes

At first I thought my great-grandmother might have had a friend named Shirley, but when I googled it I realized this is a thing. It seems like it might taste a bit like barbeque sauce.



Shirley Sauce

24 large ripe tomatoes
 6   "   green peppers
 6   "   onions
chop fine and add
5 cups of vinegar not too strong
2 cups of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of salt
do not cook but an hour
or two so that it is not
quite as thick as catsup.

Cup Cake

1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter
2 eggs
1 1/4 milk
2 heaping teaspoons baking powder
flour to stiffen
